Book Blurb

Rebecca Lawton is a mystery-thriller novelist, author of the Vicious Cycle book series.

It has been six years since Rebecca was brutally attacked late one night after attending class. Since that night, she has been somewhat of a recluse, venturing no further than the corner market, a half a block from her apartment. Her only real contact with the outside world is through chat forums and message boards. When she receives a message from user TheExecutioner8, her world comes crashing down around her as she is thrust into a game of cat and mouse. He knows things about her and he is using her novels to create a real-life Vicious Cycle.

Rebecca teams up with Detectives Jennifer Adams, Brody Scott and Kyle Rickards as they race against time, the body count growing by the minute, in this thrilling, shocking, and macabre tale of murder and obsession.

Welcome Z Allora!

Hi All!

Today I’m hosting Z Allora on my blog. Let’s get to know a little about this author and the background of his writing!

MiCTheGreatWall_Allora_front_gray_sm

Thank you Christina for having me on your blog and making me feel welcomed.

I know a lot of your readers have never read a gay romance novel but your books invite open minded readers, so I wanted to share with them why I started publishing gay romance. I’ve always written but never thought to publish.

I lived in China for about six years and about three years into my adventure, I realized I knew no openly gay people. It struck me as odd because statistically that made no sense. I’d read studies that suggest at least 10% of people are LGBTQIA, so where were the gay people in China?

Being the big mouthed American I asked, “Where are all the gay people?”

The answer shocked me. “There are no gay people in China.” When I stopped laughing I realized my highly educated and professional friends were quite serious. Many people believed ‘gay’ is just a Western concept.

Around this time, I began to watch Adam Lambert’s American Glam Nation Tour via Youku video (China’s version of Youtube). I couldn’t miss how differently he acted and performed in some states vs. others. In the North and on the coasts, he was open with his sexuality and made out with his bass player, thrilling his fans. But when he played concerts in the South and mid-West his behavior was almost muted. I was fascinated and continued to mark his progress across the USA and overseas.  The more progressive the state or country, the freer more open he seemed to be.

I previously lived in Singapore for a year so I knew it is illegal for two men to engage in sexual activity. In the neighboring country of Malaysia, gay activities could get you twenty years in prison and corporal punishment. So when Adam Lambert’s Asian tour was greeted with protests in Malaysia because he’d turn people gay, I realized the world wasn’t as progressive and forward thinking as I had given it credit to be. But what could I do to promote equality and educate?

I believe much of the trouble is people are able to see someone who happens to be gay as “the other”, someone who is nothing like they are. Many people might not know a gay person or might not know that they indeed know a gay person. Gay romance bridges the gap. It allows readers the opportunity to know someone who is gay.

Actually, I tested this theory. I lent a romance series with homoerotic overtones to a young woman who I’d considered quite homophobic. She came back to me devastated when the two men whom she thought were meant to be together didn’t end up with a happy ending. I saw how powerful a story could be and how it helped change her heart. (BTW this young woman is still hooked on gay romance though claims not to read the sex scenes. She now advocates strongly for the gay community).

Watching Adam Lambert and Tommy Ratliff had inspired to write my first hot rocker gay romance: The Dark Angels. Dare I try to publish it? How could I not try to promote equality through happily ever afters? So I gave it a shot.

I believe romance readers all LOVE happily ever afters especially after overcoming obstacles.  My hope is that in reading something I’ve written might help a reader to promote and reinforce equality in their world. When all is said and done: love is love.

An interview with Maria Martinez Greer, star of novel Star Bright

Tred paint backgroundoday on my blog I am joined by Maria Greer whose life story is told in the inspirational romance novel Star Bright by Christina OW. She talks about her life after the abuse she faced at the hands of her ex-boyfriend Ricky and the happiness she’s found with her husband Dave.

Star Bright is a wonderful book that keeps you at the edge of your seat with each page you turn. It’s quite staggering and disturbing that this story is based on someone’s life- Maria’s. What’s more frightening is that there are thousands of women out there in the world going through the same thing.

But we are here today on a more uplifting note, to discuss Maria’s journey from hell to her own kind of heaven. Without further delay, let the interview begin.

Host:   Maria, I’m glad you could join me today. Honestly, I’m quite surprised that you agreed to this interview.

Maria: Thanks for having me. To be quite honest with you, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for        Dave. A year ago, I wouldn’t have agreed to this but… (She pushes her hair behind her ear) well, I’m sure you’ll ask me about that later on.

Host:  Yes. I would like to start from the beginning (Maria fidgets in her seat) How is your relationship with your father? Have you moved past feeling abandoned?

Maria: (A shadow of a smile on her lips) we’ve seen him twice these past few years, during the Christmas holidays. Christmas in Cancun is wonderful and seeing my mom makes it even better. (Dave coughs behind me and I notice a sudden change in Maria) Though I rarely see him we talk as much as we possibly can. We are taking it one day at a time. I’m new to the whole father-daughter relationship.

Host:   You mentioned Christmas in Mexico, does this mean Dave won the bet? (The heavy chuckle behind me made Maria glare, but it was evident she was suppressing a smile).

Maria: Let’s not inflate his ego further. Next question please.

Host:  (I laugh) Okay. How are Michael and precious Izzy?

Maria: (her smile beams happily) they are wonderful. Michael is our little genius. Dave thinks in a year or two they’d have to skip him a few grades to keep his interests focused on school. And Izzy is in preschool and loving every day of it.

Host:  That’s great to hear especially knowing what they’ve gone through. But what I’d really like to know is how their relationship is with Miguel?

Maria: He is a wonderful grandfather. The way they are around him, you’d think Miguel had been present since day one.

Host: And Dave, how does he feel about that relationship?

Maria: (she shakes her head) Ah ah. I know where you are going with this. I’m not discussing that. Enough was reveal in the book.

Host: Okay… hey! A journalist can hope. Back to you, how are things with your muy caliente lawyer?

Maria: (she blushes, fiddling with the rings on her left hand finger) I think you can take a guess. He is wonderful and nothing like… (She stiffens and visibly swallows) like Ricky.

Host:  I know he’s a tough subject to discuss but, would you tell us about your life with him, with Ricky? (Maria’s hands tremble on her lap. It’s shocking to see the effect Ricky still has on her. She then looks up and behind me and the trembling stops. It’s wonderful to see Dave’s effect on her)

Maria: In a word, it was hell. I wouldn’t wish it on any woman. Living in fear for so long (she rubs her arms, her eyes gaining a distant look) I lost myself… my self-esteem. I forgot how it felt to live without fear, who I was, what I loved, my hopes, my dreams. I was completely consumed with fear and I became a woman I didn’t recognize, and even now back to the woman I used to be before Ricky, I still don’t recognize her but I understand her. (She looks at me, straight in the eye with a hard gaze and it gives me chills) But that fear did something great too. The fear of losing my son finally jolted me into taking action. And now because of that one moment of fear, I have everything I’ve ever wanted and deserved.

Host: I’m so glad for you Maria. You look so happy… you are radiating! You deserve all the love and joy in your life. Your story is so heartbreaking and yet inspiring. It made me cry from both sadness and happiness. Your courage is to be admired and I hope someone will find strength from you story into taking action and living they life they deserve.

Maria: (She smiles, quickly wiping a stray tear from her cheek) thank you, I hope so too.

Host: So what now? Now that you’ve gotten your happily ever after, what’s next in Maria Greer’s inspiring life.

Maria: (she chuckles, a tint of pink spreading over her cheeks) Well, I’m currently studying psychology. I’d like to become a counselor for domestically abused women and children. I’d like to help in anyway I can, and as you said inspire them to live the life they deserve. And well… (The pink in her cheeks grows crimson. She looks up and smiles. I look behind and standing there with a huge goofy grin on his face is her hot lawyer husband Dave. He moves into the room, lifts Maria up. Taking her seat he settles her on his lap.)

Host:  Are you saying what I think you are saying? (Maria turns, hiding her face behind her gorgeous hair making Dave laugh. He moves his hand to her belly and she places hers over his.)

Dave: What do you think we are saying?

And like a good journalist I sat there, keeping my cool when all I wanted to do was jump up and down and shriek excitedly, and waited for him to say the words. I need the confirmation, right from the horse’s mouth per say. Drawing conclusions without proof is bad business for us.

But Dave just kept smiling at me- and I’m sure that’s what nabbed Maria, that dangerous sexy smile- not saying a word. I didn’t push, I didn’t nag and when he stood up tacking Maria into his side, I knew the man was a sadist at heart. Dave Greer led his wife out of my interview room with a quick ‘bye’ and creating a journalist’s worst nightmare when he said ‘take a wild guess’.

M.J. Kane stumbled into writing. An avid reader, this stay at home mom never lost the overactive imagination of an only child. As an adult she made up stories, though never shared them, to keep herself entertained. It wasn’t until surviving a traumatic medical incident in 2006 that she found a reason to let the characters inhabiting her imagination free.  Upon the suggestion of her husband, she commandeered his laptop and allowed the characters to take life. It was that, or look over her shoulder for men caring a purple strait jacket. And the rest, as they say, is history.

No longer a television addict, if M.J. isn’t reading a book by one of her favorite authors, she’s battling with her creative muse to balance writing and being a wife and mother. She resides in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia with her high school sweetheart, four wonderful children, and two pit bulls. MJ can often be found hanging out at the local library where she is director of a local writer’s group, or online connecting with readers and other authors. Other activities she enjoys include: creating custom floral arrangements, assisting her children in their creative pursuits of music and art, and supporting her husband’s music production business, 3D Sounds.

MJ’s debut novel, A Heart Not Easily Broken, Book one of the Butterfly Memoirs, became an instant Amazon Bestseller in Multicultural Romance and African-American Literature and Fiction within hours of publication. It has also spent time on the African-American Women’s Fiction and African-American Romance Bestsellers lists.

Two New Releases from Author M.O.Kenyan

Hi All!

My sister and author of Shades Of Spring has released two more books today! I host her today and ask her a few question so that her readers can get to know her better.

Enjoy!

Before we start talking about your book, why don’t you tell everybody a little bit about yourself?

I am a daughter, a sister and a lover of life.

Besides writing, what other things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Basketball, music and watching series. Right now I am watching One Tree Hill. I love the #Nailey romance.

What is your daily routine as far as when you have an idea for your story?

When I get an idea I write it down on my note book. I build up on the idea until I am ready to write the story. I have learnt that rushing into a premature concept, doesn’t help. It only stalls the progress of the story.

Where do you get your ideas from?

From life. I think every author just writes about life in their own way. Sure, not everyone will have some wisdom or life lesson. But we write both what we know and what we don’t know. Its basically life and for a few days, weeks or months we are our characters, experiencing life through them.

Out of all of the stories you’ve written so far, what would be your favorite and why?

I think my favorite is yet to come.

But right now the story closest to my heart is DENOUEMENT, being released on the 9th of July.

Tell us something funny about yourself that not a lot of people know about?

I am a bit out there. People who don’t know me say that I am quiet. People who do know that in my mind is a mouse on a wheel.

Does any of the stories you’ve written based on real life experiences or basically just from imagination?

Life experiences. Even if its fantasy, I believe including something that happened brings it closer to reality. Even if its just a paragraph, scene of chapter. If my readers read all my books back to back, I think they could probably piece together an important moment in my life.

Does your ‘muse’ have a name and if so what is his/her name?

My muse is the world, life and the mouse in my head.

What other genre besides the one you are writing about now would you like to venture into writing?

I don’t think I would change genre. Romance is my thing. Maybe when I fall in love I’ll write about  something I don’t have at the time, a G-5. But I would love to write a script.

Who are your favorite authors that are out now?

Jamallah, M.J Kane, Delaney Diamond, Stephanie Meyers and I have to include the person or people who wrote the One Tree Hill story. I won’t get into depth with that, but you can read about t on my blog www.mokauthor.wordpress.com. Basically I love how they developed one character in particular. He is the father that I always wanted, the boyfriend that I never had and the husband God has planned for me. Every OTH fan loves Nathan Scott.

Who is your favorite female and male characters from your books and why?

My favorite female character has to be from my book DENOUEMENT, she is just as lost as I feel sometimes. Like her I wish I could compose my life story, set a path and follow it to the end. I get lost in the darkness sometimes and that is Marietta Parks. I would love to know what comes tomorrow. But God did not intend for us to take shortcuts.

Male character has to be Reece Morgan from my 9th July release COVERT EXISTENCE. He is forgiving and gracious. He falls in love and holds on to that love. He is hopeful even though the girl he wishes to spend the rest of his life with disappears. He knows what true love looks like.

What do you think is the hardest thing about being a writer?

I don’t think I have reached that stage yet, where I find writing about something difficult. That requires a piece of yourself, a piece of your reality. I don’t think I have matured yet, emotionally to get to that point. That I why I hold out on writing some projects, scripts and books, that I really want to start. When I get there everyone will know it. It will be my favorite story.

What advice would you give someone who wants to start off being a writer?

Start small, start big. But whatever you do keep true to yourself. Do not let anyone compromise your story. It is your story and only you can tell it.

If you hadn’t become a writer, what do you think you would be doing right now?

I am in school, studying communications.

But I know that telling stories would have always been part of me. I have too many day dreams to bottle up inside. I want to write a script one day and have everyone see my story the way I saw it in my head, but in their own way.

Well now that we got the question and answer out of the way…..why don’t you tell us about your latest story you have out now?

(This is where you will put in a blurb along with an excerpt of your story. Plus  if you like you can tell us about  your next book that will be coming out and when it will be out. Also your buy links will be put out on here as well.)
