YEEEEESSS!!

Her Venice Affair got Top Rated from Romance Novels in Color! I’ve always coveted that spot on their reel at the top of their page and I finally got it. Here is the review that got me there.

If you have never read a book by Christian OW consider starting with Her Venice Affair, the first book in the series, The Albury Affairs. Readers, you will experience an array of emotions from beginning to end, but it is well worth it. Her Venice Affair is a page turner that will leave you wanting to read more of the author’s work.

Riana Albury and Allen Sinclair are from different social circles; however, the life lesson they experienced left both with apprehension about loving others. It was witty how the author conveyed how men and women respond differently when faced with an obstacle. Riana made her presence known to her boyfriend and roommate after watching them degrade her bedroom; her emotional stance was typical for a young woman in her first real relationship. The day she met confident, blue eyed, handsome Sinclair, Riana finds herself trying to protect him from finding out about his girlfriend’s extracurricular activities. When things couldn’t become more awkward, Allen offers Riana a trip to Venice.

Italy brought out the best and worst in the undefined duo; Riana withholding important news and Allen’s fears resurfacing, causing humiliation towards Riana. Jealousy, selfishness, and hatred left the hero and heroine fighting for life, serenity, and happiness.

The characters Ms. OW created are those readers will be able to connect with; every scene is developed with perfection. As much as I tried to contain the water works at the end, I lost the fight (grab a tissue or two). Her Venice Affair is highly recommended. You will not be disappointed! By the way, Book 2, His Bahamas Affair, is also available.

Row of columns (Italy, Vatican)

So far this has been my best selling book ever with 50 #5stars and 10 #4stars reviews and all I can say is thanks and make sure to read the entire series, you don’t want to miss out on the crazy love stories of the Albury siblings.

Review: Almost Forgotten

My Review
Love separated by pride and arrogance. the book was a good read with a great flow to it. The heroine and hero got back together when the truth is finally told, the reasons for their split none of their fault. But one thing I didn’t like was how their intimacy turned crudish with the excessive use of valguar language. I haven’t read the first book but I’ll be adding the entire series to my libraby.

About The Book

Jake had it all: money, women, great looks. For all intents and purposes, he was
happy. Or so he thought he was.
A series of women and an unexpected appearance by a ghost from his past caused
him to re-evaluate his life.
Why had she come back? Why was she standing in his firm’s boardroom with his
opposing counsel? But the burning question was, why did he give a damn after
fifteen years?
She’d broken his heart all those years ago and Jake chose to live the life of a
bachelor from there on out. Along with his fast-paced career, he ran a
fast-paced social life. It’s what worked for him. Or he’d at least convinced
himself it did.
The loneliness his large home presented the minute the housekeeper went home and
the women that warmed his bed deserted him, left him wanting. Could he have what
so many of his friends already did: the woman, the family, the house with the
white picket fence? Maybe. But just because he desired these things, things he’d
sworn off ages ago, doesn’t mean that they were destined for him.
One thing was for sure, with Danica back in town, Jake’s life was never going to
be the same again.

Review: Misplaced by Lee Murray

MisplacedTourBanner

My Review:

This story is about a woman who disappears on her trip to the store to buy milk. It was sad seeing what the boy went through but also angering to know the husband had a mistress and their relationship only grew stronger with his wife’s disappearance. I ignored them and followed the boy’s story. The emotions were real and so was his disillusionment. His relationship with his true frineds was a crutch for him especially Skye who he found a safe haven in a way with her. This story was engaging and it felt genuine.

mxBlurb:

Dream cars have no registration plate.

One evening, just before tea, Adam’s mum pops out for the milk and doesn’t come back, launching a frantic nationwide search. After weeks with no leads, the television crews drift away, the police start asking hairy questions, and Adam’s dad starts seeing someone else. Adam’s life is falling apart. But perhaps it was already unravelling and Adam just hadn’t seen the signs? He’s spending so much time in the counsellor’s office, he’s beginning to think he’s a head-case. Then he meets Skye, who it seems has misplaced a parent too, and things start to look up. That is, until a body is found…

A Dollop of Sweet With a Dash of Spice: Insight of an Erotic Romance Author

Put it here.

Tuck it there.

Assorted parts are thrust, screwed and banged into place.

Screaming, hair pulling, tweaking and if everything works out, you’ve got a big
old smile on your face.

No, I’m not talking car mechanics, I’m talking about sex. More specifically, the
way it’s written.

Have you ever come across an intimate scene that left you scratching your head,
wondering how the main characters seem to have all of a sudden become athletes
in the Sex Olympics?

I bet even the best of contortionists or world class gymnasts wouldn’t be able
to replicate some of those moves!

In my case, becoming an erotic romance writer happened purely by accident.

Here I was, writing some new romantic thriller when the idea struck me. Why not
break a few personal writing boundaries? I knew I had a knack for writing
romance, so I thought, “How hard can it be?” Right!

Today, come to mind, when I look back at the journey that’s brought me to
publishing Once Written, Twice Shy and Almost Forgotten, the first two books in
my Broken Men Chronicles series.

The way I blushed fifty shades of red as I wrote those first few scenes is one
of them. Hell, I still blush, particularly when I come up with something
outrageous!

The second: how many times I would rewrite said scenes to get them just right. I
guessed that the most basic sex could turn out so hot! That’s also when I
realized where a lot of authors, who toy with erotic writing, go wrong.

Sex doesn’t need to be all acrobatics and mechanics to be good. It’s nice to
write a shower scene that’s a little over the top, sure—I myself am guilty of
doing it a time or ten—but if the words flow, the emotions show, you don’t need
all those fancy death-defying positions and a minute account to make your reader
feel like the proverbial fly on the wall.

The third is that there is such a thing as too much sex. Build the story and add
some “spice”. A novel can contain a lot more than the average two to three
scenes in it without coming off as crass. It really can be a beautiful piece of
art.

All in all, my foray into erotic-styled writing has definitely led me down a
path I never expected. Suffice to say, it’s not for everyone. Am I happy with my
achievements, of course! Do I plan to write more erotic romances? You bet! Will
I still be blushing by the time I reach a dozen erotic-themed novels? You’re
darn right I will be but I’ll still be putting them out!

In closing, I’d like to thank my host for having me. And for those of you
reading this post, I hope that you’ve laughed, been educated and gotten curious
as to the inner workings of this particular erotic romance author.

About The Author

Born and raised in small town Northern Ontario, Canada, Carey Decevito has had a
penchant for reading and writing for as long as she can remember.
As an adult however, more than a decade had come to pass before sleepless nights
plagued her with exhaustion, demanding that she put pen to paper (more like
fingers to keyboard) and start writing again.
And the rest, as they say, is history!
A writer of erotic romance, this lover of food will throw in a bit of heat, a
dash of sass, a pinch of comedy and a dollop of real-life experience in order to
provide her readers with a story that will mess with their emotions from start
to finish.
Family and friends are her lifeblood but Carey also enjoys conquering the
outdoors, sports, travelling and playing tourist in Canada’s National Capital
region.   When life gets crazy, she seeks respite through her writing and
submersing herself in the latest addition to her library.   If all else fails,
she knows there’s never a dull moment with her prolific story-teller of a
five-year-old daughter, her goofy husband and their two cats who she swears are
out to get her.
With three published works under her belt, Almost Forgotten  is the second of
her  The Broken Men Chronicles series.

Ocean’s Gift by Demelza Carlton

logo1

Let’s take a look at the evidence.

There are plenty of fictional accounts of mermaids, in print and visual media. There’s the Little Mermaid/Sea Maid, depending on whether it’s the Disney version with a happy ending or the traditional, tragic fairytale. There are stories for children and young adults, with a few stories for adults, too. Yes, my novel Ocean’s Gift is one of those rare mermaid stories for grown-ups.

Mermaids appear as main characters in movies like Splash, but as incidental characters in movies in both the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Harry Potter series.

Animal Planet put out a programme about mermaids, Mermaids: The Body Found. Also a work of fiction, this programme suggests that merpeople are humans that evolved differently. At the end of the programme, the “researchers” (okay, paid actors pretending to be researchers) go out into the open ocean in a tiny boat with a recording of mermaids, hoping to call them to the boat so they can see the mermaids. Perhaps it’s all my work on Ocean’s Gift, but it’s only this end scene that had me riveted. If real mermaids had been attracted to the research vessel, the boat would have been quickly sunk by a freak wave. All those aboard would have been pulled under and sharks called to dispose of the bodies. The crew on the second boat who were filming the research vessel would have met with a similar disaster. The people of the ocean’s gift protect their own, to the length of taking out any humans who might have stumbled on the mermaids’ secret existence. Of course, the people of the ocean’s gift are just a figment of my imagination, characters in my Ocean’s Gift series of books. Mermaids can’t possibly exist, so they can’t be hunting me or a nosy TV crew. Right?

The US NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) state that, “No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found.” This may indeed be the case. An alternative solution is offered by Maria, one of the characters in Ocean’s Gift:

“I think that human government department has one of our kind working in it. Our Pacific sisters must have a powerful singer as skilled as Vanessa, who passes for human. “

Infiltration of government departments by non-humans, mutants, aliens and anything else that can pose as humanoid is a common theme in popular media. Take Men in Black, X-Men, Stargate… to list just a few. If mermaids exist and work hard to hide their existence from humans, they’d need to have key people in human institutions to ensure that any reports or evidence would go missing or arrive at different conclusions. Somewhere, there would be a mermaid media officer, combing electronic and print media for rumours that mermaids exist, then quashing those rumours using whatever means necessary. Of course, if there are mermaids infiltrating human institutions in reality as opposed to just in movies, it would be somewhat embarrassing for the government department involved. It’s hardly something they’d put out media releases about.

There are stories of mermaids across the world. In Zimbabwe, construction of a reservoir has been delayed because of mermaids. At Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean, there’s a legend about a water dragon or a mermaid in one of the caves not far from the settlement area. There’s meant to be a mermaid at the Cocos Keeling Islands, also in the Indian Ocean, who welcomes locals home.

Whether mermaids exist or not is a matter for observation and evidence. The reality is that they may be real, but carefully hidden from humans, because of their small numbers and the need to protect their people from us. There are creatures on land that have not been seen or described before, being discovered by science every week in Western Australia alone. In comparison, Western Australia has been explored far more thoroughly than the Indian Ocean that laps at its coastline. If there are mermaids in the depths of the ocean, it’s entirely possible that we are ignorant of the fact.

My personal opinion, despite writing mermaid fiction, is that mermaids don’t exist.

And they’ll kill me if I tell you otherwise.

Do you believe mermaids are real?

About Demelza Carlton

Demelza Carlton has always loved the ocean, but on her first snorkelling trip she found she was afraid of fish.

She has since swum with sea lions, sharks and sea cucumbers and stood on spray-drenched cliffs over a seething sea as a seven-metre cyclonic swell surged in, shattering a shipwreck below.

Sensationalist spin? No – Demelza tends to take a camera with her so she can capture and share the moment later; shipwrecks, sharks and all.

Demelza now lives in Perth, Western Australia, the shark attack capital of the world.

The Ocean’s Gift series was her first foray into fiction, followed by the Nightmares trilogy.

200About the Book

Sirens don’t fall in love with humans. For centuries it has been so…

But Sirena is different. She lost her first love to sharks and a storm, cursing the islands that stole him from her.

Times have changed and she must swim ashore once more, to the islands she once cursed.

Gone are the boats powered by sail and steam – jet boats with GPS are now the order of the day.

Enter Joe, the deckhand on the Dolphin. A handy man to have around when the lights go out. He’ll fix your generator and have the lights back on in no time, no worries.

But can he seduce a siren?

Or will she swim away before he can uncover her secret?

A book about lobsters, beer and boobs, on some cursed islands off the coast of Western Australia. At least, that’s how Joe tells it.

For Sirena, it’s a very different story.

Great reviews for Her Venice Affair

Row of columns (Italy, Vatican)It’s only been out for four days and so far it’s doing great! #4,211 Paid and #23 Multicultural & Interracial Romance. I’m so proud of this book and glad that the public is taking it so very well. Success like this is enough to boast an author’s cofindence in her/his writing and it reminds us just why we do what we do– not just to hush the voices but to entertain. Thank you so much for your support. Without you readers authors are just weirdoes who talk to different people in their heads everytime you meet them.
Now how about we push it to top #100? Read, review and share it with all your friends and get them to do the same.

Thank You and Happy Reading!!

An interview with Maria Martinez Greer, star of novel Star Bright

Tred paint backgroundoday on my blog I am joined by Maria Greer whose life story is told in the inspirational romance novel Star Bright by Christina OW. She talks about her life after the abuse she faced at the hands of her ex-boyfriend Ricky and the happiness she’s found with her husband Dave.

Star Bright is a wonderful book that keeps you at the edge of your seat with each page you turn. It’s quite staggering and disturbing that this story is based on someone’s life- Maria’s. What’s more frightening is that there are thousands of women out there in the world going through the same thing.

But we are here today on a more uplifting note, to discuss Maria’s journey from hell to her own kind of heaven. Without further delay, let the interview begin.

Host:   Maria, I’m glad you could join me today. Honestly, I’m quite surprised that you agreed to this interview.

Maria: Thanks for having me. To be quite honest with you, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for        Dave. A year ago, I wouldn’t have agreed to this but… (She pushes her hair behind her ear) well, I’m sure you’ll ask me about that later on.

Host:  Yes. I would like to start from the beginning (Maria fidgets in her seat) How is your relationship with your father? Have you moved past feeling abandoned?

Maria: (A shadow of a smile on her lips) we’ve seen him twice these past few years, during the Christmas holidays. Christmas in Cancun is wonderful and seeing my mom makes it even better. (Dave coughs behind me and I notice a sudden change in Maria) Though I rarely see him we talk as much as we possibly can. We are taking it one day at a time. I’m new to the whole father-daughter relationship.

Host:   You mentioned Christmas in Mexico, does this mean Dave won the bet? (The heavy chuckle behind me made Maria glare, but it was evident she was suppressing a smile).

Maria: Let’s not inflate his ego further. Next question please.

Host:  (I laugh) Okay. How are Michael and precious Izzy?

Maria: (her smile beams happily) they are wonderful. Michael is our little genius. Dave thinks in a year or two they’d have to skip him a few grades to keep his interests focused on school. And Izzy is in preschool and loving every day of it.

Host:  That’s great to hear especially knowing what they’ve gone through. But what I’d really like to know is how their relationship is with Miguel?

Maria: He is a wonderful grandfather. The way they are around him, you’d think Miguel had been present since day one.

Host: And Dave, how does he feel about that relationship?

Maria: (she shakes her head) Ah ah. I know where you are going with this. I’m not discussing that. Enough was reveal in the book.

Host: Okay… hey! A journalist can hope. Back to you, how are things with your muy caliente lawyer?

Maria: (she blushes, fiddling with the rings on her left hand finger) I think you can take a guess. He is wonderful and nothing like… (She stiffens and visibly swallows) like Ricky.

Host:  I know he’s a tough subject to discuss but, would you tell us about your life with him, with Ricky? (Maria’s hands tremble on her lap. It’s shocking to see the effect Ricky still has on her. She then looks up and behind me and the trembling stops. It’s wonderful to see Dave’s effect on her)

Maria: In a word, it was hell. I wouldn’t wish it on any woman. Living in fear for so long (she rubs her arms, her eyes gaining a distant look) I lost myself… my self-esteem. I forgot how it felt to live without fear, who I was, what I loved, my hopes, my dreams. I was completely consumed with fear and I became a woman I didn’t recognize, and even now back to the woman I used to be before Ricky, I still don’t recognize her but I understand her. (She looks at me, straight in the eye with a hard gaze and it gives me chills) But that fear did something great too. The fear of losing my son finally jolted me into taking action. And now because of that one moment of fear, I have everything I’ve ever wanted and deserved.

Host: I’m so glad for you Maria. You look so happy… you are radiating! You deserve all the love and joy in your life. Your story is so heartbreaking and yet inspiring. It made me cry from both sadness and happiness. Your courage is to be admired and I hope someone will find strength from you story into taking action and living they life they deserve.

Maria: (She smiles, quickly wiping a stray tear from her cheek) thank you, I hope so too.

Host: So what now? Now that you’ve gotten your happily ever after, what’s next in Maria Greer’s inspiring life.

Maria: (she chuckles, a tint of pink spreading over her cheeks) Well, I’m currently studying psychology. I’d like to become a counselor for domestically abused women and children. I’d like to help in anyway I can, and as you said inspire them to live the life they deserve. And well… (The pink in her cheeks grows crimson. She looks up and smiles. I look behind and standing there with a huge goofy grin on his face is her hot lawyer husband Dave. He moves into the room, lifts Maria up. Taking her seat he settles her on his lap.)

Host:  Are you saying what I think you are saying? (Maria turns, hiding her face behind her gorgeous hair making Dave laugh. He moves his hand to her belly and she places hers over his.)

Dave: What do you think we are saying?

And like a good journalist I sat there, keeping my cool when all I wanted to do was jump up and down and shriek excitedly, and waited for him to say the words. I need the confirmation, right from the horse’s mouth per say. Drawing conclusions without proof is bad business for us.

But Dave just kept smiling at me- and I’m sure that’s what nabbed Maria, that dangerous sexy smile- not saying a word. I didn’t push, I didn’t nag and when he stood up tacking Maria into his side, I knew the man was a sadist at heart. Dave Greer led his wife out of my interview room with a quick ‘bye’ and creating a journalist’s worst nightmare when he said ‘take a wild guess’.
