Bad Company
Scottish psychologist Doctor Kelly Ann Darrow loves her career and has never permitted her feelings to impact her professionalism, but when biker Cameron Iss arrives in her care, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to the unconscious man. His tattoos and the mysterious circumstances of his arrival intrigue her to distraction.
Cameron Iss awakes in a strange country with no memory of how he got there and no knowledge of who he is. He takes out his frustrations at his amnesia on the sexy doctor enlisted with helping him unlock his mind.
A mutual chemistry forms between them, and Kelly is plagued with guilt at her unethical and inappropriate attraction to this, her most perplexing patient yet.
As his memories begin to return and they discover more about his violent past and his connection with a motorcycle club in America, the element of danger both excites and frightens Kelly, and nothing can douse the erotic fire he has sparked inside her.
Will Kelly risk her career, her reputation, and all she is for the man who has ignited a dormant passion within her or will his returning memories steal him away for good?

Excerpt from Bad Company:
Kelly
I watched him sleeping.I’d been doing the same thing for the past week since he was brought in. And with each passing day, my oh-so-unprofessional want for him grew more familiar. His natural, musky, masculine scent infiltrated my senses and I inhaled it deeply, closing my eyes and pulling it. Memorising it. I opened my eyes and trailed my gaze over his features yet again. Such a handsome face. Dark brown, tousled hair and more than a week’s worth of beard growth. I wondered if he was usually clean shaven—although he really did suit the stubble. What would it feel like to run my tongue along his angular jaw line? Trembling, I shook my head to dislodge the erotic thought.Annie, one of his ICU nurses, had told me that he had the brightest blue eyes she’d ever seen. She only knew that from the times she’d checked his pupils.Sadly, he hadn’t opened his eyes of his own accord yet.
All I knew about him on a personal level was that his name was possibly Cameron Iss. And that was only if the note they’d found with him was actually written by him. My job—when he eventually awoke from his coma—was to find out why he’d tried to take his own life. As a woman, I ached to think of the torment he may have gone through to end up in my care. As a newly qualified psychologist, I was looking forward, in a macabre way, to getting inside his head. He would be my first suicide-attempt case. I glanced down to the panic alarm hooked onto my waistband to ensure it was still there. It was one of the things I’d been informed I should keep with me at all times for my own protection—some patients were known to get a little out of hand. Not that I needed it at that precise moment, but it was always better to be prepared.
The machines around my patient flashed and bleeped. But he lay still. After observing the scar on his forehead, I allowed my gaze to journey to where his long lashes fanned out on his pale, bruised features. Continuing to map his face, I made myself study the NG feeding tube with its medical tape holding it in place on his cheek and then settled my attention on his full mouth. He had those kissable, full lips… well, they would’ve been if they weren’t distorted by the ventilator tube hanging from them.
Good grief, I was being so unprofessional. He deserved better. But he was probably the most handsome—no… handsome just didn’t cut it—he was the most stunning, sexy, and sculpted man I could ever recall encountering in all my adult years. Fine lines caused an indentation between his strong brows, indicating to me that he was someone who frowned a lot. Perhaps he was uber serious. Stern. Harsh even. The thought excited me and sent shivers of electricity down my spine. He was dangerous, that much I could tell. The epitome of masculinity. Let’s get to the point here, he was the most gorgeous guy I’d ever laid eyes on. I chewed on my lip. As a jolt of sensation throbbed at my clit, I inhaled sharply. Just thinking about what he might be like had me pulsating and needy. But it was
wrong and I knew it. Bloody typical—he was in a coma and unattainable thanks to my professional code of ethics.
I sat there a little longer, tablet in hand. I hadn’t really focused on the patient record on the screen, and the tablet had gone into sleep mode—just like Cameron. Despite my state of heightened sexual awareness, exhaustion—both mental and physical—was taking its toll on me too. I could’ve just sat in my office, but the view wasn’t quite as good in there. Don’t get me wrong, the view from my office in the North Kessock hospital window overlooked the beautiful Kessock Bridge with Inverness in the distance. And although I couldn’t see it from my south-facing view, I knew the Black Isle unfolded behind me, and I loved that place. From my office window I could see the sun glinting on the Beauly Firth and watch the boats as they tootled by on the calm estuary waters heading out to sea. But… well, Mr Iss was heart meltingly gorgeous and was rapidly becoming my favourite thing to look at.
The many tattoos covering his arms offered enigmatic clues into his life—possibly. I’d examined them for hours, wondering what they all meant, if anything. Maybe he was just one of those guys who liked ink. But maybe there was some deeper meaning to the numbers, words, and pictures beautifully marking the man’s otherwise perfect
olive skin. One in particular grabbed my attention. It was the word Cosmic in ornate script on his forearm. Strange choice. The word was surrounded by stars, and a sultry woman with green eyes and long auburn hair, not unlike my own, was draped across it as if it were a bed. Some tattoos I’d seen before depicted women as slutty, half naked and big breasted, mere objects to be ogled, but this one was very tasteful. Yet it was out of character with the dark, foreboding images that covered his arms. There were some intricate tribal tattoos too that were really quite beautiful if you liked that kind of thing—which I never had… until I started imagining the bold ripple of ink over his muscles as he pushed himself into my flesh.
Judging by the numerous markings he carried on these relatively small areas of visible skin, I was pretty sure he had more ink on the rest of his body. Annie—lucky thing—had the job of bathing him, but it would be completely unprofessional of me to ask such questions about a patient, and so I continued to use my vivid imagination.
It’s a good thing that my superiors were only psychiatrists and not mind readers, or I’d be fired on the spot.
I was clearly sex starved.

NeverFarAway

Excerpt:

“Wait,” I shouted. I searched for the right words. All I came up with was, “Why did you take so many pictures of me? Do you like me?” My face heated. I sounded like a dorky ten-year old boy on the playground at recess. I plowed ahead anyway. “Did the kiss mean as much to you as it did to me?”

There was only one way to find out. I took a step forward and touched my lips to hers. Her lips were warm and soft. I thought she’d slap me and tell me to get the fuck away from her, but she didn’t. She closed her eyes and sank into the kiss, kissing me back. I teased her lips open with my tongue. She responded and our tongues swirled around each other. The last kiss I shared with Stella was just a small preview. This was downright epic. I felt things I’d never felt before.

I moved my lips down her pale throat and kissed her softly. She reached up and wrapped her arms around my neck. I pulled her closer until our chests were smashed against each other’s, and I wondered if she could feel my heart beating. It pounded hard and loud. A soft sigh escaped her lips and I knew this wasn’t one-sided. She felt things too. I returned my attention to her mouth, biting her bottom lip, losing myself in the taste of her sweet lips. It was like being pulled under by a giant wave in a hurricane and then not knowing which way was up or down. I realized I didn’t know and I didn’t care. I never wanted to resurface. I was right where I wanted to be. Lost in a sea of emotions and passion with Stella at the center of the storm. I cupped the back of her head, deepening the kiss even further.

Suddenly she pulled away and I couldn’t breathe. I felt like a fish out of water. I wanted to reach for her and pull her back to me because nothing in my entire life had felt so right, but the look on her face told me not to. “What was that?” She narrowed her eyes at me.

“We were kissing.” She had moaned my name at one point and pressed her hot body against mine. There was no way in hell she hadn’t been enjoying it. “And you liked it.”

“No, Theo.” She called me Theo again. I was beginning to hate my own name. “I can’t do this with you.”

“I know you felt that too,” I argued. I didn’t understand why she was pretending she hadn’t been affected. She’d kissed me back. It had been honest and true.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I didn’t feel anything.” It was the same words she’d said last time after we kissed, only this time I knew she was lying. Her voice was shaky. Her body still trembled with aftershocks. I just didn’t understand why she’d lie. I stood on her porch for several minutes after she went inside, trying to figure out how I was going to get Stella to forgive me and recognize what we could have if she’d give me a chance.

BIO:

Photo on 2012-04-12 at 13.15 #2Marysue G Hobika grew up in Caledonia, NY and attended SUNY at Buffalo where she studied to be a Spanish teacher.  Currently she lives in Pittsford, NY with her husband, three children, and her two pugs.

She has learned that stories don’t write themselves and tries to make time every day to sit down and write. She does her best thinking while in the shower, driving her kids around, or right before she falls asleep. She keeps a moleskin notebook handy that a dear friend gave her as a gift, so that if an idea occurs she can write it down.

She doesn’t know where this journey will take her, but she has a lot of characters and stories floating around inside her head waiting to be brought to life.

  What genre is your book?

“Never Far Away” is my first crack at writing a New Adult/Contemporary Romance novel. My resume includes 3 YA novels, and I was ready to branch out and expand my style and audience.

What inspired you to write this novel?

A real life event inspired this novel. I took a real situation—two neighbors fighting over seats on the back of the bus in elementary school, never really agreeing on anything, and placed these two antagonist characters years down the road. What happens? How are they different? The same? They share history, but can they share a future?

What book are you reading now?

Currently I am reading short stories in Spanish and meeting with a great group of ladies once a month to discuss them. Hablamos en español todo el tiempo y me encanta.

If you could have breakfast with anyone past or present who would you choose, and why?

I would choose my mother. She died when I was in my early twenties and so much has happened in my life since then that I’d love to share with her—I finished college, got my first job, got married, and had kids. I’d love to see the look on her face when I told her I’m a writer too. I’ll never forget the day back in high school when she drove me to school and I suddenly remembered I had written an essay on a whim for a contest and it was due that day—typed. (This was before computers were in every household). My mom sighed and took the essay to work and typed it for me and dropped it off at school, and I won. She was proud of me then and I’m sure she’d be proud of me know. After breakfast I’d like to have her show me how to make an apple pie with her homemade crust because that’s something I miss.

What’s your favorite dessert?

My mom’s homemade apple pie, of course.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Creative, Happy, and Kind.

Row of columns (Italy, Vatican)

Excerpt:

Allan and Dante began walking towards them as Mr. Torino stopped at a large table in the exclusive corner set out for important guests. He pulled out a chair for Riana and she took it. Her slit parted to expose her leg right up to her thigh and Allan groaned loudly.

How was he supposed to sit next to her and eat with that leg taunting him?

Dio mio!” Dante exclaimed next to him.

“What?” Riana looked from him to Dante as she pulled the dress to cover her leg. It stayed put for a while before it fluidly slipped off her leg like water against marble rock.

Oh damn!

Mr. Torino chuckled, and Dante groaned his eyes riveted on her leg.

Allan cursed, quickly taking the seat next to her teasing leg and placing the napkin from the table to cover her thigh.

She looked at him with a quirked brow before she smiled that ‘oh, not so innocent’ teasing smile and said, “Oops!”

“Yeah right, little witch!”

Dante took the seat next to him laughing. “Remind me to send Guliana a thank you gift basket.”

“Remind me to send Guliana a pink slip,” Allan grumbled.

Riana giggled and cupped his cheek in her hand. “No, you won’t. She was going for a specific reaction from you, and I think she accomplished it. Her master piece was a success.”

Allan leaned in close and whispered, “Her master piece is about to be ravished under this table if she doesn’t quit teasing me.”

Riana’s eyes widened and she dropped her hand quickly picking up the menu. “Let’s order!” she squeaked.

Mr. Torino laughed taking the seat at Riana’s other side. “Yes, let’s order. I don’t believe my children will come.”

Riana held his hand. “Don’t worry, we’ll keep you entertained.”

Just then, a waiter walked to the table with a bottle of wine, “Signorina, this is for you, our most expensive bottle. Compliments of the gentlemen’s table over there.” He pointed to their right and the entire table of five men waved at her.

Allan fumed. What right did they have to send his girlfriend a bottle of wine? He should go over there and beat them with it!

She waved back, smiling. “Gratzie, but please take it back.”

The waiter’s brows furrowed. “Signorina?”

Riana placed her hand on the inside of Allan’s diner jacket and rubbed his chest as if she were trying to calm him. It calmed him all right but she notice it also quickly turned him on as her soft touch teased his peck. She knew he wouldn’t make it through dinner without turning into a caveman and dragging her off if she kept this up.

“I really do appreciate it, but if I took that bottle the saying ‘don’t shoot the messenger’ will not apply to you.”

Scusi?”

“Take the bottle back or I’m going to beat you with it!” Allan gnashed out. He kept his voice cool and low enough to deliver the threat in a way the guy would receive it loud and clear.

The waiter took a giant step back, the bottle held tightly to his chest his eyes wide with shock as he stared at Allan. Yes, he got the message.

Darkenss Arisen by Stephanie Rowe

dar_coverLet me start by saying that Stephanie Rowe has one hell of an imagination!!

I enjoyed Darkness Arisen and I must say if you are a fan of the Order of the Blade, do not miss out on this one! Ian and Alice are like death magnets fighting with insecurities that give death the upper hand. This book, unlike the others (though similar to Elijah’s story) is about a relationship that boasts you up and makes you into the person you are meant to be. Ian and Alice come into their own as they fight to save and help each their friends. It’s a weird kind of honeymoon for this two because when the end isn’t a flight back home but death.

I honestly have to say though that i expected more. Just like Elijah and Ana’s story, the previous books built this up and it made me feel I was in for an explosive read (i stalked the author that’s how impatient I was for this book) but again instead of the fireworks i felt like i got fire crackers. That might just be me.

But… THIS IS A SERIES YOU HAVE TO READ!!
