New Release, Cover Reveal and just HI!!!

Happy Monday book lovers!!! Today is an exciting day for me. My second single novella drops today and I’m both excited and nervous as to how it will be received. Because I Love Him, my first single novella which came out last month has being doing great since it’s release (Thank you ❤ ) and I’m hoping for the same for Love Her Right.

So, how about a little intro?

Love Her Right is a Black Man White Woman Interracial Romance, happy for now and maybe in the future too, kind of story. This is something very different from what I’m used to writing which are HEA (Happily Ever Afters). I’ve written sad stories (Candle Light Series) but still with a HEA (somewhat) and I thought it was time for a change. Hopefully this is a good change.

unnamedBlurb: Jolie Simmons has been dreaming about being Mrs. MacKenzie Masters since she was thirteen. She has been in love with the boy from across the street for years and already has their wedding and their happily ever after planned out. But those plans are derailed two days after her eighteenth birthday when his parents die and Mac leaves to join the air force. Five years later, he’s back to turn her life upside down again. Should she give him a chance, or will he abandon her and break her heart again?

On other exciting news, the third book of the Dukkha Fate Series, Tide Of Fate finally has a cover! Like always Dawne did a great job with it, I couldn’t be happier.

The Dukkha Fate Series is a Werewolf Shifter Interracial Romance series. The Beginning (free series preview on all sites) is the very first book I ever wrote. Ever!!! So this series is pretty close to my heart. I discovered my love of writing as I was hesitantly toying around with the idea of an Interracial paranormal romance.

Tide Of Fate is the bridge between the first two and the second two books in the series. So much happens in Rein’s of Fate and Fate’s New Dawn and it’s all because of the night Ash and Lee meet in Fate Reborn. That night changed Lee’s fate completely giving her a new path. In the intro of the books, I spoke of there being magic, it only comes up at the end of Tide Of Fate, all because of Ash.

The danger they face in the first two books is like kid’s play compare to what they will be facing in the last two. To say I’m excited to write them is an understatement. I’m uber excited and freaked about delivering these last two books as expected by fans.

Here is the cover…

Pretty cool right? Tide Of Fate will be released late September so stay tuned!!!

Color Of Love Blog Hop

It’s that time of the year where we celebrate our love for characters of color in romantic fiction in the Color of Love Blog Hop.

Excerpt

“Crazy Lori, what brings you to my neck of the woods?”

Loraine wasn’t sure exactly what kind of reception she would receive from Reno. More than disgust, she dreaded being pitied and it truly surprised her when he spoke to her like that night never happened. She was speechless, watching that come hither smile play on his lips like they were back to their seductive banter.

The man should have been an actor, not even his eyes gave him away.

“Ah, Melody has some business with you and I thought I’d tag along for a free vacation.”

Reno nodded, looking behind her for a moment before his eyes settled on her again. “Did she tell you why she’s here?”

Loraine wasn’t sure how Melody wanted to handle brokering the subject with Reno so she thought best to keep that information to herself and be as vague as possible.

She shrugged. “Something about a business proposition for you.”

He nodded. “You want to take a walk with me?”

Loraine blink a few times, a little confused at what was going on. “Ahh, sure?”

He pointed to her feet with his chin. “Take you sandals off.”

“Why?”

His brow rose. “Do you always have to argue? Just do it.”

Loraine fought the urge to stick her tongue out at him and slid off her sandals. “Fine.”

“Now, come closer to the water—don’t you dare ask me why or I’ll dunk you!”

Loraine would have asked why just to annoy him but the look in his eyes told her he was serious about his threat. She stepped closer to the water and closer to him with a patronizing smile. “Is this close enough?”

He chuckled, shaking his head and began walking away, leaving her behind. “Do you need me to tell you to follow too?”

“No!” she yelled, jogging to catch up with him. “I can take the hint.”

“Yeah, you’re just slow in processing it.”

She punched his shoulder as hard as she could and yelped at the pain from the contact.

“Ouch,” he said with a boring dry tone, not even bothering to look at her. He didn’t even flinch!

Loraine rubbed at her knuckles. “Yeah right, you didn’t even feel a thing. Do you eat rocks for brunch because you shouldn’t be that hard, it’s just not normal?”

He laughed and the sound made the butterflies in her belly flutter.

“No, I don’t eat rocks.” He took her injured hand and massaged her knuckles. “You should be careful next time. Here let me kiss your boo boo and make it better.”

“I’m not a child…” she began to grumble when she caught his darkening eyes as he lifted the back of her hand to his lips.

Breath caught in her chest as she watched his lips lower to her knuckles. When they came in contact, her eyes fluttered shut and she sucked in a breath. He kissed it lightly, running his lips then the tip of his tongue over her knuckles before he planted another soft kiss.

“Better?” he whispered huskily.

Loraine nodded, unconsciously moving toward him until her chest touched his. He wrapped his free arm around her waist, as the other hand weaved her fingers through his and held them both to his chest. Her head cantered to the side as he lowered his to nuzzle at the nape of her neck. Her body shuddered, pushing closer to his.

“Reno…” she whispered softly, turning her head into his.

“Mmhmm,” he responded, brushing his nose and lips up her cheek to her temple.

Loraine felt her toes curl in the sand, a quiver in her chest as her breaths grew heavy. “Thank you.”

When he stopped what he was doing, she thought she’d ruined the moment by bring that night up, that is if he knew what she was referring to when she thanked him. She hoped he didn’t.

He kissed her temple and began moving in a circle, in a slow dance. “You’re welcome.”

She nodded, blinking back tears. She went on her tip toes and pressed her soft cheek to his rough one. He tightened his hold on her waist and lifted her up, supporting her.

She felt his breath on her ear before he spoke. “Any time you need me Lori, I’m right here. Don’t ever forget it.”

Great reviews for Her Venice Affair

Row of columns (Italy, Vatican)It’s only been out for four days and so far it’s doing great! #4,211 Paid and #23 Multicultural & Interracial Romance. I’m so proud of this book and glad that the public is taking it so very well. Success like this is enough to boast an author’s cofindence in her/his writing and it reminds us just why we do what we do– not just to hush the voices but to entertain. Thank you so much for your support. Without you readers authors are just weirdoes who talk to different people in their heads everytime you meet them.
Now how about we push it to top #100? Read, review and share it with all your friends and get them to do the same.

Here are some reviews from Amazon I would love to share with you.

“This book was AMAZING! I love how the love between Allen and Riana wasn’t rushed. The storyline was well thought out and well written. I just hope that we will be getting more stories from Allen and Riana.”

“This book took me on n emotional journey! It was sooooo good! I have my fingers crossed that she will make a sequel to this before she decides to write a story about Allan’s sister or Riana’s brother. Best IR I’ve read in a while!”

Row of columns (Italy, Vatican)

Excerpt:

Allan and Dante began walking towards them as Mr. Torino stopped at a large table in the exclusive corner set out for important guests. He pulled out a chair for Riana and she took it. Her slit parted to expose her leg right up to her thigh and Allan groaned loudly.

How was he supposed to sit next to her and eat with that leg taunting him?

Dio mio!” Dante exclaimed next to him.

“What?” Riana looked from him to Dante as she pulled the dress to cover her leg. It stayed put for a while before it fluidly slipped off her leg like water against marble rock.

Oh damn!

Mr. Torino chuckled, and Dante groaned his eyes riveted on her leg.

Allan cursed, quickly taking the seat next to her teasing leg and placing the napkin from the table to cover her thigh.

She looked at him with a quirked brow before she smiled that ‘oh, not so innocent’ teasing smile and said, “Oops!”

“Yeah right, little witch!”

Dante took the seat next to him laughing. “Remind me to send Guliana a thank you gift basket.”

“Remind me to send Guliana a pink slip,” Allan grumbled.

Riana giggled and cupped his cheek in her hand. “No, you won’t. She was going for a specific reaction from you, and I think she accomplished it. Her master piece was a success.”

Allan leaned in close and whispered, “Her master piece is about to be ravished under this table if she doesn’t quit teasing me.”

Riana’s eyes widened and she dropped her hand quickly picking up the menu. “Let’s order!” she squeaked.

Mr. Torino laughed taking the seat at Riana’s other side. “Yes, let’s order. I don’t believe my children will come.”

Riana held his hand. “Don’t worry, we’ll keep you entertained.”

Just then, a waiter walked to the table with a bottle of wine, “Signorina, this is for you, our most expensive bottle. Compliments of the gentlemen’s table over there.” He pointed to their right and the entire table of five men waved at her.

Allan fumed. What right did they have to send his girlfriend a bottle of wine? He should go over there and beat them with it!

She waved back, smiling. “Gratzie, but please take it back.”

The waiter’s brows furrowed. “Signorina?”

Riana placed her hand on the inside of Allan’s diner jacket and rubbed his chest as if she were trying to calm him. It calmed him all right but she notice it also quickly turned him on as her soft touch teased his peck. She knew he wouldn’t make it through dinner without turning into a caveman and dragging her off if she kept this up.

“I really do appreciate it, but if I took that bottle the saying ‘don’t shoot the messenger’ will not apply to you.”

Scusi?”

“Take the bottle back or I’m going to beat you with it!” Allan gnashed out. He kept his voice cool and low enough to deliver the threat in a way the guy would receive it loud and clear.

The waiter took a giant step back, the bottle held tightly to his chest his eyes wide with shock as he stared at Allan. Yes, he got the message.

Picked up an Interracial Romance book lately?

Khloe-Kardashian-Lamar-Odom-Get-Own-Reality-Show-010511

When the tag ‘interracial’ is seen on books, it is assumed that the book is has a black heroine and a white hero, because truthfully, that is the most popular theme and it is rarely the other way round, with a white heroine and a black hero. Another rarity is a black or white lead against a lead that is Asian, Indian, Latin and other races. Examples of such rare books that I’ve read with a Latin/white and Latin/black are the Hot Latin series by Delaney Diamond with a black heroine and Latin hero, M.J. Kane in Butterfly Memoirs with black, white and Latin characters and Star Bright by me with a white hero and a Latin heroine.download (2)

I strive to write books with a whole mix of races because it’s different from the norm and tying your laces the same way every time tends to get boring. And also, I believe it makes them more interesting to the readers because there is more than one culture being explored. In real life, and though interracial relationships have been around for a few decades, people still ask this very popular question, ‘how does your relationship work when you are both so different?’

Yes, we do like to proclaim that we are a racially tolerant world- even though in some places and a few times in our day to day lives racism still exists- the color of our skin is still a gigantic determinant in whether or not a relationship will survive the long hall. ‘How are people going to react to us’, ‘I don’t believe in what you do’, ‘how will our children look like’, ‘what will my family say when I bring a black/white/Asian/Latino guy home’, ‘how long will it take before we face prejudice’.  Then all in all, they begin to feel that love just isn’t enough to keep a biracial couple together.

But just like couples facing financial problems, childlessness, homophobes and sadistic in-laws (yes, we all have that one in-law you would like to ‘forget’ to invite to your Christmas dinner) whatever is holding those couples together- I’m a romantic so I’m going to say love and it is the same thing that will hold biracial couples together. People do need to understand in a relationship, any romantic relationship is to survive, their number one concern should be their partner.

So why do authors like to write IR romance books? One, is because it’s the new fairy tale and people love fairy tales. Second, I think it’s because it is one of numerous ways to say falling in love with someone who isn’t of your race is okay. And why do readers read it? Again, it’s the new fairy tale. And second, I think it’s because they are looking for answers for the questions I pointed out earlier. Great authors bring solid authenticity to their books by bringing in an element of ‘real life’ in their books for those who write fiction and readers feel a familiarity with the book. Those who write non-fiction of IR romances based on their own life become inspirations. Authors end up being ‘therapists’ to their readers, answering questions and helping them sort through their own problems.

Here is an interesting fact, very few readers have heard of IR romance books. And yet the bestselling romance books are IR and of course featuring black women and white men. Which begs the question, why don’t IR authors receive the same attention as authors of other romance?

I have a suggestion for you readers who have never read an interracial romance novel. Pick up an IR book and find out why people love them so much. Spice up your libraries people!

The best place to find the best IR authors and books is Romance Novels In Color . They have the best IR books listed and they also have reviews of a large number of IR books out there in the industry. Let them help you make an informed IR decision.

An interview with Maria Martinez Greer, star of novel Star Bright

Tred paint backgroundoday on my blog I am joined by Maria Greer whose life story is told in the inspirational romance novel Star Bright by Christina OW. She talks about her life after the abuse she faced at the hands of her ex-boyfriend Ricky and the happiness she’s found with her husband Dave.

Star Bright is a wonderful book that keeps you at the edge of your seat with each page you turn. It’s quite staggering and disturbing that this story is based on someone’s life- Maria’s. What’s more frightening is that there are thousands of women out there in the world going through the same thing.

But we are here today on a more uplifting note, to discuss Maria’s journey from hell to her own kind of heaven. Without further delay, let the interview begin.

Host:   Maria, I’m glad you could join me today. Honestly, I’m quite surprised that you agreed to this interview.

Maria: Thanks for having me. To be quite honest with you, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for        Dave. A year ago, I wouldn’t have agreed to this but… (She pushes her hair behind her ear) well, I’m sure you’ll ask me about that later on.

Host:  Yes. I would like to start from the beginning (Maria fidgets in her seat) How is your relationship with your father? Have you moved past feeling abandoned?

Maria: (A shadow of a smile on her lips) we’ve seen him twice these past few years, during the Christmas holidays. Christmas in Cancun is wonderful and seeing my mom makes it even better. (Dave coughs behind me and I notice a sudden change in Maria) Though I rarely see him we talk as much as we possibly can. We are taking it one day at a time. I’m new to the whole father-daughter relationship.

Host:   You mentioned Christmas in Mexico, does this mean Dave won the bet? (The heavy chuckle behind me made Maria glare, but it was evident she was suppressing a smile).

Maria: Let’s not inflate his ego further. Next question please.

Host:  (I laugh) Okay. How are Michael and precious Izzy?

Maria: (her smile beams happily) they are wonderful. Michael is our little genius. Dave thinks in a year or two they’d have to skip him a few grades to keep his interests focused on school. And Izzy is in preschool and loving every day of it.

Host:  That’s great to hear especially knowing what they’ve gone through. But what I’d really like to know is how their relationship is with Miguel?

Maria: He is a wonderful grandfather. The way they are around him, you’d think Miguel had been present since day one.

Host: And Dave, how does he feel about that relationship?

Maria: (she shakes her head) Ah ah. I know where you are going with this. I’m not discussing that. Enough was reveal in the book.

Host: Okay… hey! A journalist can hope. Back to you, how are things with your muy caliente lawyer?

Maria: (she blushes, fiddling with the rings on her left hand finger) I think you can take a guess. He is wonderful and nothing like… (She stiffens and visibly swallows) like Ricky.

Host:  I know he’s a tough subject to discuss but, would you tell us about your life with him, with Ricky? (Maria’s hands tremble on her lap. It’s shocking to see the effect Ricky still has on her. She then looks up and behind me and the trembling stops. It’s wonderful to see Dave’s effect on her)

Maria: In a word, it was hell. I wouldn’t wish it on any woman. Living in fear for so long (she rubs her arms, her eyes gaining a distant look) I lost myself… my self-esteem. I forgot how it felt to live without fear, who I was, what I loved, my hopes, my dreams. I was completely consumed with fear and I became a woman I didn’t recognize, and even now back to the woman I used to be before Ricky, I still don’t recognize her but I understand her. (She looks at me, straight in the eye with a hard gaze and it gives me chills) But that fear did something great too. The fear of losing my son finally jolted me into taking action. And now because of that one moment of fear, I have everything I’ve ever wanted and deserved.

Host: I’m so glad for you Maria. You look so happy… you are radiating! You deserve all the love and joy in your life. Your story is so heartbreaking and yet inspiring. It made me cry from both sadness and happiness. Your courage is to be admired and I hope someone will find strength from you story into taking action and living they life they deserve.

Maria: (She smiles, quickly wiping a stray tear from her cheek) thank you, I hope so too.

Host: So what now? Now that you’ve gotten your happily ever after, what’s next in Maria Greer’s inspiring life.

Maria: (she chuckles, a tint of pink spreading over her cheeks) Well, I’m currently studying psychology. I’d like to become a counselor for domestically abused women and children. I’d like to help in anyway I can, and as you said inspire them to live the life they deserve. And well… (The pink in her cheeks grows crimson. She looks up and smiles. I look behind and standing there with a huge goofy grin on his face is her hot lawyer husband Dave. He moves into the room, lifts Maria up. Taking her seat he settles her on his lap.)

Host:  Are you saying what I think you are saying? (Maria turns, hiding her face behind her gorgeous hair making Dave laugh. He moves his hand to her belly and she places hers over his.)

Dave: What do you think we are saying?

And like a good journalist I sat there, keeping my cool when all I wanted to do was jump up and down and shriek excitedly, and waited for him to say the words. I need the confirmation, right from the horse’s mouth per say. Drawing conclusions without proof is bad business for us.

But Dave just kept smiling at me- and I’m sure that’s what nabbed Maria, that dangerous sexy smile- not saying a word. I didn’t push, I didn’t nag and when he stood up tacking Maria into his side, I knew the man was a sadist at heart. Dave Greer led his wife out of my interview room with a quick ‘bye’ and creating a journalist’s worst nightmare when he said ‘take a wild guess’.
