Book Blurb:

Life had been great these past few weeks. I have a hot boyfriend, got back my dad and my adopted sisters were happy with their significant others. Life was good. That is until I started getting attacked by bouts of pain that would render me unconscious. Something was wrong with me, Ash knew but he wasn’t sharing. Worse than that, Steve in the worst form possible is back to haunt me. And Ash with his hug archaic pride just won’t let it go. Oh, but I haven’t gotten to the worst part yet…hell!

What’s a girl to do to get some long term happiness?

Excerpt:

“You two have gotten serious over a short amount of time. Are you sure you’re ready for all of it?”

“Everything is so wonderful because I love Ash and he loves me. What I’m not ready for is the change that is going on inside me. It scares me. If I had a choice, I’d remain human and normal, but I don’t.” This was the first time I was admitting this out loud.

I didn’t hate the fact I would be like Ash, that I loved, what I hated was all the dangers and the constant fear that came with it. Fear of hurting my sisters, fear of loosing someone I love. The constant danger we were in because of Baku and Sabrina. Legends and myths had become reality, threatening every semblance of normality for me especially after all I had been through. Life was never going to be easy on me.

“Don’t worry Lee, things will work out.”

“I hope so,” I cringed as a familiar pain ripped through me. I panicked knowing exactly what was coming next. “Maria, please pull over,” I unbuckled my seat belt and reclined my seat. This time I would unwillingly be ready for it.

“What’s wrong Lee?” Maria sounded scared.

“The pain is about to hit,” fear coated my voice heavily. I pressed my lips together and put my hand over my belly. I didn’t have to wait long before a stronger pain ripped through me. I cringed bending backwards pressing my feet against the dashboard. Ann was right the pain was going to be worse than last time..

Maria pulled over to the side of the road and spoke frantically on the phone. I could tell she was talking to Ann. Before I could hear a word of the conversation, longer heavier pains ripped from all sides of my belly. There was no holding the scream that rushed out my throat. I turned to my side, and grabbed at the door, trying to get some air into my lungs.

Before I start writing, I do research either reading books or attending courses because I really feel it adds to the depth of the story. It opens doors in my mind that I wouldn’t have traveled down otherwise. I am currently writing book three called Children of Annwn: Power of The Gilgamesh…

jod1Excerpt from The Battle

Snowflakes floated down like tiny cotton balls from the sky, and Mia opened her mouth wide, sticking her tongue out to catch one. The icy crystal tingled, and Mia giggled as it melted on the warm cushion of her mouth. Exhaling, small white clouds escaped, hovering in the freezing air. Snow covered her jacket until she removed her hands from the pockets, dislodging the thin layer. Shivering, Mia rubbed her hands together, but couldn’t muster the tiniest spark of heat to warm her ice-cold limbs. The exquisite silver filigree ring on her left hand that was embedded with tiny diamonds sparkled up at her, and she smiled. Ryder’s ring sat snuggly on her hand. Smiling, she stared at the delicate and handcrafted ring, but a gust of frigid air drew her attention and any warmth away.

Mia stared across the distance at the magnificent expanse of Appalachian Mountains barely visible through the wild misty snow and howling wind. She should be inside where the heat was ramped up so high it was like a sauna, but Mia needed the energy and chaos of the storm to recharge her magic. Arctic air nipped at her cheeks, letting her know that magic was out there. Focusing on the swirling mass of wind and snow, she stretched her hands out to harness its strength, but like a dead battery that wouldn’t charge, nothing happened.

A coiling fear twisted in her gut as the bitter cold sharpened her senses and she braced herself, ready. Time froze as if taking a deep breath, and she stared at the powerful storm, listening for him. Goose bumps rippled along her arms as a footstep landed behind her, and Mia spun around with her fists raised in the air ready to fight her demon. She stared at broad shoulders encased in a gray parka covered with a dousing of fresh snow, straggly dark hair and intense chestnut eyes that narrowed at hers. His mouth twitched into a smile and he stood still.

“Hey, it’s me,” Ryder complained, raising his hands in surrender and frowning before he pulled her into a strong embrace. Brushing her long hair back over her shoulders, he rubbed her cold nose with his before dropping a gentle kiss on her tightly closed lips. Her stiff shoulders softened. Mia masked her fears but as soon as Ryder touched her and met her gaze, he sensed them. He stepped back, taking his heat with him as he gripped her arms firmly. “You think he’s here, don’t you?”

She nodded, too afraid to say the words in case Greyson slunk out from the shadows in front of them. Instead, she snuggled closer into Ryder’s firm body as if his strength would obliterate her terror. Sliding her arms around his waist, she clung to him, and he hugged her back in a possessive hold. Mia rested the side of her face against his dove gray shirt, listening to his heart stampeding inside his ribs. In his arms, she was warm and safe. He smelled delicious, fresh with a hint of vanilla and musk, and for a moment she let go of the nightmares, knowing she was protected in Ryder’s embrace. He pulled his coat further around her as she trembled, shielding her from the world.

“Mia, please tell me we are not back on that precipice with Greyson? He cannot take what isn’t his. Don’t you believe in the power of our love? You’re wearing my ring on your finger, and yet the idea of surrendering yourself lingers. I can see it. I love you Mia, and I forbid it, do you hear me?”

Tears bubbled and fell down Mia’s cheeks as she twisted the beautiful silver Celtic knot ring he’d put on her finger earlier. It was a simple wide band with twists and knots, which flared out in the center to form a large filigree heart studded with tiny diamonds. She loved it. Ryder had given it to her saying that the heart was his, and it now belonged to her. Ryder removed his arms from around her back to hold her shoulders, creating a distance between them, and instantly the cold invaded. He lowered his head, searching her eyes, pleading for an answer, gazing intently for a response. Mia stared at his breathtaking beauty, unable to believe he was hers.

“I will never leave you. I will always be right here,” she said, stabbing her finger in his chest where his heart beat.

Carolyn Wren’s Empathy

Carolyn Wren – Empathy (Emotional Chains Book 1)

Release Date – March 23rd 2015

Bio

carolyn1Carolyn Wren is the award winning author of the romantic suspense series, The Protectors.

Having spent her working life as a book-keeper and finance officer for international companies, she discovered a passion for fiction writing in 2009. Assuming it was some sort of mid-life crisis, she kept it a secret for six months. In an impulsive move, she entered The Emerald, a prestigious writing contest for unpublished authors run by the Romance Writers of Australia. Much to her utter shock, she won it. This was followed shortly after by a finalist placing in the unpublished division of the International Daphne Du Maurier Awards for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense.

After braving a submission letter to Secret Cravings Publishing, her debut published work Diplomat’s Daughter (Protectors Book 1) won the RWA ‘Ella’ award for novella of the year.

To date, The Protectors series has received four award nominations, resulting in two trophies.

Carolyn’s other works include a very naughty ghost erotic novella Ghosts of Grace Cottage that she wrote during a stormy winter day. Her new series, the murder mystery urban fantasy Emotional Chains is her latest writing obsession.

When not in front of the computer, you’ll find Carolyn glued to the TV. She loves classic 1960s spy dramas, and is a self-confessed sci-fi geek who owns every single Star Trek, Dr Who, and Buffy dvd ever made.

She lives in the hills of Western Australia with a husband she adores, and a varied assortment of native wildlife.

What if you could sense the emotions of everyone around you?

What if you fell in love with someone you’d never even met?

Blurb

Oliver Lord belongs to one of three special families, empaths who feel emotions as a physical sense. Quiet and reserved, and accustomed to keeping his abilities hidden, Oliver is drawn inexorably to a woman he’s never met. The woman who made his brother’s last year of life so happy.

When Zoe Daniels, talented sculptor, loses her fiancé before their wedding, she can’t imagine finding love again, until she meets Jasper’s unknown brother, a man so different, yet so achingly familiar to the man she adored. What is Oliver’s secret, and why is he so determined to keep her at arm’s length?

A violent kidnapping and murder forces the empaths from the shadows to seek justice for one of their own. Oliver turns to Zoe, needing her comfort and love. Can she accept him for who he is?

Oliver and two powerful empathic friends need to track down the kidnappers before they strike again, but how do you solve a murder, when your only clue is emotion?

Excerpts

Zoe sat with her back to the tree as she always did, knees drawn up. Thin cords dangled from her ears, attached to the smart phone at her hip. Her feet tapped out a rhythm to a tune Oliver couldn’t hear. She put down the book in her hands and tilted her head to the dappled sunlight peeking through the branches. A smile lit her face as the beams played like mischievous children on her closed eyelids. The old forest was lush and vibrant, a calm oasis of another age. Jasper had always loved spending time here, lost in the peace and quiet. No doubt he’d brought Zoe here. That she’d feel close to him in this isolated place they’d shared was understandable.

Oliver shut his eyes and reached out to read her. If he looked deep inside, he could find the essence of the brother he missed so much. He tried not to. The first time it had seemed an intrusion, but sometimes he couldn’t help himself. She was warmth and goodness. Her calm was a soothing balm to his nerves and a link to a beloved lost sibling. He indulged himself and took a tiny moment. She’ll never know.

“Why don’t you come out from behind that tree?”

Oliver’s eyes flew open at the sound of her voice. He’d not planned on being seen, and normally when he chose that option, he wasn’t. It was a simple, foolproof empathic trick, one he’d been able to do since childhood. Remaining silent and unmoving, he projected a low level of emotion in her direction. Disinterest. Indifference. Boredom. Every gentle empathic nudge was designed to increase her need to walk away and not look back.

She continued to talk as she stood. Brushing leaves from her trousers, she walked toward him with determination in her blue eyes. “If you keep lurking, it just looks suspicious.”

The moment their gazes met, he caught a flare of something. Surprise? Confusion? Oliver regained his composure. “I’m sorry if I scared you. I was enjoying the sunshine. You looked as if you were deep in thought. I didn’t want to disturb your privacy.”

“What about all the other times? Were you concerned about my privacy then, too?”

She’d noticed him before? Oliver’s much vaulted confidence of his own abilities took a distinct dive. “I’m sorry. It’s a pleasant spot, somewhere I enjoy and find calming.” Only because you’re here. “I won’t intrude on your peace any longer.”

“Do I know you?” She tilted her head to one side. The filtered sun caught the blonde strands of her short feathered haircut, making them shine.

“No.”

“Do you know who I am?”

“No.”

“May I ask you another question?”

Oliver frowned. “Of course?”

“Why are you lying to me? And who were you to Jasper?”

Excerpt 2

She sighed and leaned forward. “I’m about to tell you something. I would appreciate it if you’d listen with an open mind, because it’s going to shock you.”

Mike mirrored her position, leaning his elbows on the table. “Very little shocks me these days, Miss Baron.”

“I prefer Meredith, or Merri.”

He inclined his head in acknowledgement. “If you have information on this case, I need to hear it.”

She fiddled with the spoon from her chocolate. The first non-confident move he’d seen her make. “I think Freddy may have been killed because of abilities he had.”

“Abilities?”

“Freddy was empathic. He could feel emotions as a physical sense.”

Mike sagged, fighting a keen sense of disappointment and a growing anger. He thought they were on to something, but no. She was one of those loopy new-age nut jobs—a very beautiful new-age nut job.

“You don’t believe me.”

Mike shoved his coffee cup aside. “No, I don’t believe you, and if you’ve finished wasting my time, I have real work to do.”

“Wait,” she said as he stood.

“I’m a busy man, Miss Baron.”

“What happened in the alley?”

Mike hesitated with his palms flat on the table. “Nothing.”

“Liar. You had a panic attack.”

“Fine. I had a panic attack. I work ninety hours a week on a good week. I don’t eat or sleep properly, and I see a lot of terrible things. Sometimes the stress gets to me, okay?”

“I did it.”

“Bull dust.”

“This would be so much easier if you just believed me, but I see I’m going to have to prove it.”

“Prove what?” A rush of pure erotic heat raced through Mike’s body and headed straight between his legs. He sat down with a thud as those same limbs turned into wet noodles.

She leaned further across the table. “It’s funny, isn’t it, how we accept some emotions as a normal part of our daily life? Fear, pain, worry, anger, anxiety, guilt? We put them down as a standard occurrence caused by traffic jams, a suspicious person in our peripheral vision, a horrendous story on the evening news. You know what I mean, all sorts of things. But, sexual excitement? Desire? Lust? Arousal? Those we can’t explain away quite so easily, can we, detective?”

Her voice was a husky edged blade running over his skin. Heat. His whole body was a mass of pulsing aroused heat. Mike fought the almost uncontrollable urge to jerk his hips forward and sink into soft firm flesh. I’m having sex. Jesus, I feel like I’m having sex. All of the sensations were there. A series of highly carnal scenarios ran though his mind like a movie. Supple limbs wrapping around his, warm silky skin rubbing against him, moist lips panting with hot breath, fanning his face. His erection pressed against his zipper, and even that was unreasonably erotic. Mike was lost in a sensual storm, held captive by luminous blue eyes. The pressure built in his lower back, culminating in a blast of sensation, a tightening of his groin. Christ, I’m going to come.

Meredith broke eye contact, relaxed back in her chair, and picked up her hot chocolate.

Mikes impending orgasm, and all the associated sensations, vanished. He slumped against the table, heaving in great lungful’s of air. “Jesus Christ!”

“Nope. Just me.”

He gaped at her, his fingers curled into claws against the solid wood, and heart beating in double time. “What are you?”

The look she gave him was a mixture of exasperation and annoyance. “I’m not a what. I’m an empath. What do you say? Are you willing to listen to me now?”

“Yes,” he said, through a clenched jaw.

“Good.” She slid a gilt edged business card toward him, before standing and hitching a leather bag on her shoulder. “My place at eight tonight, address is on the card. Be prepared to listen. Oh, and Stone, drink your coffee. You look like you need it.”

Excerpt of Fatal Obsession, Book 2 of The Black Widows Series

This book has been a long time coming. After the release of Fatal Jealousy in 2013, many readers even my editor asked if there was going to be a sequel because apparently the epilogue suggested there might me and all I was doing was ending a book with a little suspense. I had no intention of writing another one.

Well, never say never. Fatal Obsession is about Ellsa, giving her an out for being so evil. And of course the ‘coincidental’ meeting between Dale and Ellie. Ellsa set her sister up on a blind date with Dale Carson only the Dale Carson that showed up was the wrong one. Yup, too easy.

Ellsa Jabari, is explained in this book, the reasons behind all her actions and murders are revealed including the date she set up for her twin sister with Dale. Also in this book, we meet more of Dale’s family including his cousin Damien Chan, Ellsa’s love interest.

. “Who is this?” Damien hissed.

Dale sat up straight in his seat and stared hard at Damien. “Dude, what’s up? You look like you’re about to blow.”

Damien couldn’t have said it better himself. He was about to blow like a fucking atomic bomb. “Who is this?” he yelled.

“My wife, Ellie, now tell me what’s wrong with you!” Dale yelled back.

If he hadn’t been sitting, he would have been on the floor on his ass by now. She married his cousin? This couldn’t be happening, it just couldn’t be possible. “I want to see her, I need to see her!”

Dale’s eyes widened. “Calm down man. You’re getting hysterical.”

Damien dropped the wallet and combed his fingers through his long messy hair. Hell, he was losing his mind!

 ****

As he drove, Dale kept stealing side glances at his cousin. Damien fidgeted in his seat like he had ants in his pants and when he wasn’t doing that his knee bounced incessantly, his fingers drumming in the same fast tempo on the armrest. His jaw clenched and unclenched, his eyes darting around. Add that to his long curly brown hair, the bush on his face and his clothes that looked like they hadn’t seen water in weeks, he looked like a bum high on drugs and nothing like his cousin.

Hero Damien Chan, the genius ladies man that Dale knew, was always particular about his looks. He was always clean shaven or kept a light buzz around his mouth—something he had on good authority from numerous ladies that it made him look even more the heartbreaker when he smiled. His hair was always trimmed short, a closer shave on the sides of his head than the top. His clothes were always neat, straight and pressed that sometimes Dale wondered if he ever moved around especially as a cop. No cop looked as impeccable as he did by the end of a long day. But now he looked like a bum—a junkie bum—and he was sure Ellie was going to flip the second they stepped into the house. The kids were always home with Ellie after she took a sabbatical after Ellsa’s escape from the psych prison. Now, she always had her guard up, more around people they were acquainted with than strangers. She didn’t want to falsely trust someone else again who’ll end up helping Ellsa steal one of the kids, again.

Everything inside Dale told him to stop the car and demand why Damien wanted so badly to see his wife, but he knew his cousin well enough to know he wasn’t going to utter a word until he got what he wanted. Stubborn ass.

It wasn’t long until Dale pulled into the driveway of his year old home. They had just moved into a two-story five bedroom house when they’d gotten word of Ellsa’s escape. It dampened their new lease on life and turned their new home into just another safe house, a location Ellsa knew nothing about, since she hadn’t shown up yet. But soon Dale would find his crazy sister-in-law and put her back where she belonged and he and his family could go back to living a nightmare free life.

Dale hadn’t even gotten the car to a complete stop when Damien jumped out, running for the house. The locked door kept him from rushing in and he turned around to glare impatiently at Dale. Both Dale’s brows shot up to his hairline.

Fuck! What the hell have I just brought to my home?

He stalled in the car, watching Damien keenly, suddenly not willing to let him near his family. He wasn’t going to have another case of Ellsa in his home. He would drag him back into the car…

The door swung open and Damien turned to face it. Ellie stared at him curiously, shifting a questioning look at Dale before turning back to Damien with a hesitant ‘hi’.

Dale couldn’t see Damien’s face, but he heard him loud and clear from where he sat in the car a few feet away from them.

“I finally found you,” his voice so tender it broke Dale’s heart, right before his anger flared when Damien grabbed Ellie and kissed her on the lips.

“What the fuck!” Dale yelled, jumping out of the car and running to them.

 ****

Damien sat on the love seat opposite Dale and Ellie on the couch and just stared at the object of his five-year obsession. He couldn’t believe he found her at last and in his cousin’s home no less. The anger of knowing that she shared Dale’s bed almost overshadowed the joy of seeing her again—almost. But how could he be angry as he stared into those lovely brown eyes that were wide with alarm? The pink glossed lips—the lower one being worried between her teeth—that he remembered so vividly kissing until there were swollen. They were red then, full and red and ever so seductive. The chewing of the lower lip was new though. She used to roll it inside her mouth when she was nervous and also when she was thinking. But it had been five years and she was bound to change. He certainly had, though not for the best.

Damien’s gaze dropped to her lap, where her hands lay—the right one palm to palm with Dale’s and the left sitting atop the joined ones, two rings on her third finger, the diamonds glittering against the sun rays coming through the window behind him. It irked him seeing his cousin’s mark of possession on her hand, but he wouldn’t dwell on that. He stared at her face again and noticed her hair, though still in curls, was short, reaching right above her shoulders.

With a shaky smile he said, “You cut your hair.”

She exchanged a frightened look with Dale before she nodded slowly. “Yes. It’s much easier to handle with two toddlers.”

His body went rigid and he bit down on his jaw in an effort to calm himself. Exploding in a jealous rage would be the wrong way to handle this situation. He needed to be patient. To get her alone and… and what? He hadn’t really thought past finding her and now that he had her right in front of him… He sat up straight with a new resolve. Now that he had her he was determined to have her back in his arms. She was his first!

He caught Dale’s eyes, narrowed in warning. Damien could practically feel his rage radiate off him in large waves toward him, but he didn’t care. He’d searched for so long, lost so much along the way, including part of his sanity, to just wish them a happy life and walk away.

Turning fully to Ellie, he asked, “How old are they?”

Swiping her lips twice with her tongue—another new nervous habit—she answered, “Stacey-Ann is two and a half and Third—Dale James—is one and a half. Their birthdays are two weeks apart.”

Though she was smiling, Damien caught a spark of hurt in her eyes. Why would the dates of their birth cause her pain? Dale, too, had that look for only a second before he drew his wife closer for a comforting hug. It took all that was inside Damien not to rip them apart.

“Ellie, could I speak to you for a minute—in private?” Damien stressed the last part.

Dale slowly pulled away from her and rose off the couch, seething. “No way in hell is that happening!”

Damien stood too, his anger getting the best of him. “What’s the matter Little D? Scared she’ll come back to me?”

“I was never with you,” her voice, though soft, was strong. She stood, taking Dale’s hand in hers in a show of solidarity as she stared at him with pity in her eyes. “I’m sorry but I think you have me confused with someone else.”

He slashed his hand through the air. “No, I’m not confusing you with anyone else!”

With sad eyes, Ellie looked up at Dale before turning back to him. “I do have an identical twin sister. People were confusing us for each other all the time. You’re probably—probably thinking about Ellsa.”

“Hell no! I’ve heard what Ellsa is like and she’s definitely not my Victoria Secret. But you are. I know I’m not wrong!”

He took a desperate step towards her, but Dale quickly shifted her behind him, shielding her with his body. He then held his hand up to Damien to keep him from moving any closer.

“Listen Middle D, we’ve already gone through and survived one psycho relative and it’s not an experience I’m willing to repeat. Nor is it one I’m willing to permit my family to endure again. Do you understand me?”

Damien stared down his cousin, the threat and the outstretched arm the only things keeping him where he stood. He understood alright and he couldn’t say he blamed Dale. If it were his family, he would do the same, but…

“She’s mine—”

“No, she’s not!”

Why I Write Romance by Nicole Zoltack

Hi, everyone, glad to be here! I’m Nicole Zoltack, author of WHITE HELLEBORE and a bunch of other romances. Why do I write about falling in love and kisses and all that gooeyness?
Well, I blame hubby. I met him the first day of classes freshman year of college. We started going out that winter break and have been together ever since. He was my first kiss and my first love.
And how he proposed? So romantic. We saw Phantom on Valentine’s Day and a few months later, he drove us to a restaurant for our monthly anniversary. Along the way, he stopped at a park, went to the trunk, and opened my door while wearing a cape and a mask. He sang two Phantom songs – Music of the Night and parts of All I Ask of You – and gave a short speech down on one knee. Of course I said yes!
Can you blame a girl for writing romances?

BLURB:

After destroying Skull Krusher, Nicholas Adams thinks Falledge is safe and becomes a security guard at the museum, watching a valuable statue. Unfortunately, the Egyptian statue houses the soul of a scorned witch, biding her time to have her revenge on the descendants of her cheating lover.

Kiya the witch isn’t the only new foe in town as the drug that created Skull Krusher has now transformed a scientist into yet another monster, forcing Nicholas to don his Black Hellebore mask again and save Falledge.

Nicholas has no help this time as Kiya gains possession of his love Julianna’s body and brings the soul of Justina, Nicholas’s high school sweetheart and Julianna’s twin, with her. Despite himself, Nicholas is torn between the sisters. If he can’t stop the fiends from taking over the world and destroying humankind, he’d never be able to find lasting, true love.

Discount offers and Contests for Bastard’s Brew by Gillian Felix

Food … the variety of life

I am fascinated by different cultures and their relationship with food. In Iceland for example, one of their delicacies is rotten shark meat called Hákarl. We’re not just talking 2 days past the expiry date here… we’re talking about burying the shark for 6-12 weeks, then letting it dry for another couple of months until it forms a brown crust. Note folks this is not an Hors d’oeuvre for the faint-hearted. Famed international food lover Anthony Bourdain described it as the single worst tasting thing he has ever eaten (and he’s eaten everything). The locals usually wash Hákarl down with a glass of cognac. Who could blame them?

East Indian verses West Indian Cuisine.

I was fortunate to grow up in the West Indies where food labeled ‘exotic’ in the US was part of our everyday diet. I took it for granted back then. West Indians are people from the Caribbean and East Indians are people from Pakistan, Asia, etc. So naturally their cooking style is different due to what is available on their continent. The thing we have in common is that we season everything. Seasonings consist of curry, turmeric, different spices, shadow benny, thyme that sort of thing.

In the Family Portrait series I wanted to give the characters an international flavor, so I made the matriarch of the family Brazilian. Since food is a part of the characters bonding ritual as a family, naturally mama Banovic opened up her kid’s palette to international cuisine at an early age. In Bastard’s Brew, eldest son Kevin uses what his mama thought him in the kitchen to get the girl.

“See, brother, that’s how you impress a woman. You cook them something exotic. The farther the continent, the more impressed she’ll be.” – Kevin.

Kevin proceeds to make chicken korma over basmati to impress his love interest. Korma has the flavor of ground coriander, cumin and spices. It can be made with yogurt as a base sauce incorporated with the juice from the meat.

A nice desert to go with this meal would have been gulab jamun. To Kevin’s dismay he points out to his brother that he couldn’t find gulab jamun at Gelson’s. Gulab Jamun is a sweet, amazingly delicious dessert. You can find the recipe here http://indianfood.about.com/od/sweetsanddesserts/r/gulabjamun.htm. I can still taste it to this day.

In Bastard’s Brew I sent the Banovic parents to Europe giving the kids more opportunity for mischief and mayhem, and they delivered. Kevin is left in charge of his siblings and his frenemies are surprised that he can cook. The first introduction we have of Kevin’s culinary skills, he is making cassava dumpling stew. My mom made this for my birthday last year and all I can say is BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER! I loved it so much I did a post on my website about it. Check it out here: http://www.plaintalkbm.com/cassava-dumpling-stew/

Synopsis for Bastard’s Brew

When L’Wren’s ex-boyfriend Jeff suddenly disappears, she turns to Kevin to help her find him. With one phone call, Kevin makes sure that Jeff stays hidden and that L’Wren’s heart is broken, leaving the door open for Kevin to pursue her. But Kevin is not as free as L’Wren thinks; she is in the dark about his affair with her stepmother, Savi. Savi constantly reminds Kevin of his devious ways and uses their secret to keep him as her toyfriend.

“You don’t deserve to be loved, and you don’t deserve to be happy. You and I are the same … we’re broken inside. Everything we touch, we destroy. We don’t get happily ever after … we don’t get to ride off into the sunset. You know who gets that? L’Wren … she gets it, she gets the guy, and she deserves a decent guy.”- Savi

Kevin desires to be the man that L’Wren deserves, but before he can assume the role of white knight, he brews one last plan to get rid of Savi for good. Will L’Wren, the innocent victim in their twisted game, become a casualty?

Kevin may have sold his body to the devil in stilettos, but he’d be damned if he let her have his heart.
